Linear unit of six meters with stainless steel guide
08 Juni 2020Almotion has built a linear unit of 6 meters with stainless steel guide for a customer in the USA. Various systems had already been tested by the customer for an agricultural application of spraying the field. But in the end, the results were not sufficient.
It had to be a light weight system that can function well outdoors. In addition, the span of 6 meters must be self-supporting. At the length of 6 meters, the toothed belt must continue to move at high speed. For the self-supporting capacity, an aluminium construction profile of 45x90 mm was chosen. The best for this application is the use of a guide-wheel guide because of the dirt resistance. Because this is an outdoor application a stainless steel variant was chosen.
This “C-rail” guide is in stock at Almotion and can be quickly shortened of the desired length. The type with a width of 45mm fits perfectly on the aluminium profile.
The pulleys are made of solid stainless steel 304. In addition, a stainless steel ball bearing is used for these pulleys. The toothed belt is in the bleu FDA version, because this is the best suited against a humid environment.
