LT50 used in a frame with XYZ motion

20 December 2019

Last week we were able to deliver a new frame in which our linear units from the LT50 series have been processed into an XYZ movement. This application is offered by Almotion to perform measurement with a special head on a product. The range of this measuring head is 500x500x500 mm. The mass of the measuring is very low, so the LT50 series could be chosen. A repeat accuracy of ± 0.1 mm is sufficient.

Product specifications linear units LT50

These compact linear units have a Brecoflex toothed belt of type AT5 with a width of 25 mm. In addition, there are two versions for guidance;

  • A guidewheel with 4 wheels on hardened shafts -8- mm
  • A ballguide rail size -15-

In this application, a guidewheel has been chosen for the X-axes because one unit is motor-driven and the others are only “run along guides”. The guidewheels run very lightly and can absorb small alignment errors. With this XYZ movement, the Y-axis is more rigid because the Z-axis hangs on it. That is why a guide rail has been chosen here; this is a stiffer and more robust guide.

Here you go to the product page of the LT50 for more product information.
