Long unit with special timing belt

Almotion has been using AT timing belts for 24 years. These AT timing belts are also called “proposition” belts because they have the best properties for accurate positioning. This time Almotion made a long linear unit with a special timing belt.

For the first time after all these years we have produced a linear unit with a different timing belt type; the HTD 8M HP. Due to the reduction of spareparts, our customer wanted an HTD type timing belt in the linear unit, because more HTD belts are used on his machine. Almotion's technicians have carefully thought this through, selected the right pulleys and analyzed all technical aspects.

In addition, the application requires an extra high pretension of the timing belt. This is due to the high force applied to the timing belt when the unit quickly reverses from the left to right movement. This is why the “high power” timing belt was chosen. It has extra thick steel cords in the polyurethane.

With a toothed belt length of more than 12 meters, adjusting this high preload is an extra challenge. We made special tools to be able to do this accurately.

This linear unit is also equipped with a stainless steel guide. Three trolleys are mounted in the rail to absorb the large forces. The slide therefore has a length of 800mm.
